love is a verb

23.02.08
Soundwave Festival
Brisbane Riverstage + Parklands

There were multiple acts that were on my viewing list; The Matches, Plain White T's, Boys Like Girls (missed them), Motion City Soundtrack. However, the draw card for me was definitely Incubus. You can probably tell from all the photos I took. I went to the stage when Thursday were playing and I have to say that they were not worth my attention. Incubus were worth waiting for through Thursday and the pathetic crowd just to have a spot near the front. It was a gorgeous day and the night scenes were delicious. Seeing Incubus live again warmed my heart and I look forward to the next concert here in Australia.

Warning: A lot of photos of Incubus and mostly Brandon Boyd.

This little guy just appeared on my windscreen when I was driving through Brisbane to the festival. It was so very random and the traffic was slow, so I had to take a photo.

I found my friends Carmen & Craig there.

Me and Nomes (my bodyguard in the Thursday crowd)

Plain White T's. The only photo I took - I was not moving from my spot.

The circle of death = The circle of complete wankers.

Incubus were finally on for their too short gig.

Then he started to walk towards me (my side of the stage)

Naturally, I had to take a bunch of photos while he was so close.

The singlet comes off. The song In the Air Tonight by Phil Collins comes into my head (I've been waiting for this moment all my life).

If I could just run my hands along that back ;)

and then they were gone. I look forward to when Incubus come back to our shores and hopefully this time if they do come for a festival they will do a sideshow in Brisbane too.

These photos are nothing like the photos I have seen from the Soundwave festival of people who were bang smack front and centre and with greater cameras than mine :)

do play my favourite songs, not music I'm told to like

15.02.08
Cat Empire Tour
Ash Grunwald (support)
The Beautiful Girls (support)
Blue King Brown (support)

It was a great concert, despite the rainy weather. Unfortunately, The Beautiful Girls didn't live up to my expectations and were a great disappointment. It didn't seem as though they were actually playing music, (I think they only played 2 songs for their whole set) just a bunch of noise. I'm unsure on whether it was their live style, or if there was something wrong with the feedback. All I can say is that each of the other acts performed extremely well with great sound. It was a big open venue, so plenty of room to move around and still be able to see the band. After a shitty crowd (pushing, bitching, a bit of elbowing, stomping on feet and hair pulling), I moved from near the front to just out of that crowd so I could breathe and regain colour and get my body moving and could still see the bands perfectly.

Blue King Brown and The Cat Empire were the better half of the concert with great attitude and atmosphere.

The Beautiful Girls
I only got two photos before the crowd got a bit wild. I kept thinking, "it's only The Beautiful Girls!"
